The Strokes are a New York rock band and one of the most influential groups associated with the early-2000s revival of garage and indie rock. The band consists of Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti. Their breakthrough came with the 2001 debut album Is This It, whose stripped-down guitars, memorable melodies and distinctive production helped reshape alternative rock at the beginning of the century.

The band followed their debut with albums including Room on Fire, First Impressions of Earth and the Grammy-winning The New Abnormal. Their sound has gradually expanded beyond garage rock to incorporate new-wave, electronic and experimental elements while retaining the interplay between Casablancas’s vocals and the band’s twin-guitar arrangements. They remain a major international live act, with European arena performances continuing in 2026.
