Berlin is one of Europe’s most exciting cities for live music, festivals, art and nightlife. Throughout the year, the German capital combines huge international events with an underground cultural scene that has made the city famous around the world.

During spring and summer, Berlin’s streets and public spaces become part of the festival experience. Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures) brings music, dance, costumes and performances from cultures around the world to the city. Fête de la Musique fills neighbourhoods with concerts and outdoor stages, while major international artists perform at venues such as the Olympiastadion, Uber Arena and Waldbühne.

Berlin is especially famous for electronic music. Clubs and unconventional venues are an important part of the city’s identity, while events such as Rave The Planet bring electronic music into the streets. Pop-Kultur adds another dimension with concerts, performances, talks and emerging international artists.

Later in the year, Berlin Art Week brings together galleries, museums, artists and visitors from around the world. One of the city’s most spectacular annual experiences is the Festival of Lights, when landmarks including the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral and TV Tower are transformed through colourful projections and light installations.

Berlin also hosts major film, cultural and sporting events, including the internationally renowned Berlinale. Together with its concerts, festivals and legendary nightlife, this makes Berlin a destination where there is almost always something happening.

From an open-air concert at the Waldbühne and a summer street festival to electronic music late into the night and illuminated landmarks in autumn, Berlin offers a different live experience in every season.
